In the universe of the Brain's Cage, humanity cannot simply go around the space FTL.
**To travel smaller distances** the spaceships are equipped with EGA engines. These engines can reach very fast speeds, capable of traveling between planets of the same star system in a matter of hours, but nowhere close to the speed of light.
**To travel long distances** the spaceships need to go through some of the Intragalactic Bridges, also known as IG-Bridges. These bridges are Einstein–Rosen bridges that connect two points within the Milky Way and allow human spacecrafts to travel distances that in any other way would be unreachable.
